BAHAMAS
ELEUTHERA BEACHES
BAHAMAS BEACHES

Eleuthera is a Greek word which means "freedom", and it was in search of religious freedom that, in 1648, the island was accidentally colonized by a group of puritans who had come from the Bermuda beaches.
It was in Eleuthera where these adventurers found a peace and quiet paradise, surrounded by wonderful scenery thanks to some of the most fabulous Caribbean beaches that Eleuthera has.
In Eleuthera, you can find the oldest and best kept small villages in Bahamas. Pastel coloured houses, typical of Bahamas beaches, remain in perfect condition on this island which is never wider than 3,5 Kms. As well as resplendent white sand beaches, there are also pink sand beaches with excellent places for diving, like Blue Hole, Devilīs Back Bone or the most famous Current Cut. Eleuthera is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in the world to practise diving.
WHERE TO STAY AND WHAT TO DO
Eleuthera does not have luxurious hotels which would disagree with the environment; the accommodation is simple and must be booked well in advance.
Visiting the small fishing village known as Spanish Wells on the North Coast, where the first Spanish settlers first arrived and where you can find their direct descendants, is one of the most interesting activities on the island.
If you love fishing, do not miss the spot known as "the pocket", where fishing is abundant with exotic Caribbean fish.
You can also visit Dunmore Town, on Harbour Island, which was designed by Versace and is considered the most luxurious beach in the world.
WHEN AND HOW TO GO
You can get a connection flight from Miami or Nassau, or travel by boat from Fort Lauderdale.
Between October and June, the weather is ideal for visitors.
